"Come as you are, but don't leave as you came."
Could be for you, but we're talking about your clothes! Do yourself a favor and leave your favorite outfit and white sneakers at home. Instead, bring your raggedy, old, stained, seen-a-better-day shirt. Cause if it didn't look "iffy" before The Sinks, it will after! Our "soil" is full of clay that does. not. wash. out.
Here's a list of other items you may want to bring:
- Bug Spray!
- Sunscreen
- Long pants and closed-toe shoes if you want to walk/hike through the woods
- Swimsuit/creek shorts
- Creek shoes that allow water through, but keep small rocks out (flip flops and sandals often let rocks in), any variety of these work great
- A wide brimmed sun hat, particularly during float trips
- A flashlight for getting around at night and exploring caves
- Cooler for roadies between houses, or sittin' & sippin' in the creek
- Consider a smaller cooler that can fit on a kayak or in a canoe for the float trip
- Ice can be purchased in Salem or Eminence on your way in, or during your stay at Running River about 3 miles from the property (South on Hwy 19)
- A reusable, insulated cup (e.g., Yeti)
- Dry bag and coozie, if you plan to join the float trip
- Portable chair for creek sittin' and gatherings
- Beach towel
- Advil, bandaids, Benadryl or antihistamine, anti-itch Benadryl spray, etc.
- Card/Board/Yard Games
- Fishing pole and bait
- Food! It's about 35 mins each way to the closest grocery store. (Depending on your lodging, there could be limited fridge/freezer space.)
- Beverages of choice. Restocking options in Salem or Running River.
- Laundry pods, paper plates, etc.
